Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Joseph Church;
I thank you and those who have made inquiries about the weekend masses here at our church. Basing upon reliable predictions as to the strength of the hurricane coming to us on Sunday, I, along with our priests and staff, would have to cancel all our Sunday masses as well as Monday’s. I do invite all those who can and safely do so, to attend the Saturday anticipated Holy Mass at 4pm (bilingual), with an overflow capacity Mass to be held simultaneously in the parish hall should the need arise. During this crisis situation, only the priests and deacons present will set up the mass(es) themselves. We shall utilize the liturgical ministers present during the Mass to help out in the serving and distribution of Holy Communion. We shall celebrate the Holy Eucharist as solemnly as we can even without music. Only the Precious Body will be distributed. As this Saturday 4pm mass fulfills our Sunday obligation, we pray as a community of faith, for all those who have died and are currently suffering from the devastation of hurricane Irma here and the neighboring islands and the earthquake victims in Mexico. May God bless and protect us always and we seek the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary whose birthday we celebrate today. I look forward to getting back to the normal run of things by Tuesday.
Anchored in the Lord,
